A: With flatfair, tenants pay an affordable membership fee – split evenly between the household – instead of having to pay an expensive deposit to their landlord up front.

The cost of flatfair membership is £120 or one week's rent (whichever is the greater), plus VAT, split evenly across the household.

This means that, although the minimum rent for properties is £25 per week or £108 per month, the minimum membership price for all properties remains at £120 plus VAT.

The maximum rent for properties is £2000 per week or £9,330 per month.

Example 1

Sam, a sole tenant, would like to rent a property costing £90 per week (£390 per month) with flatfair. The membership price Sam needs to pay will be £120 + VAT (rather than the equivalent of one week's rent + VAT)

Sam's weekly rent: £90
Sam's monthly rent: £390
Sam's membership fee (without VAT): £120
Sam's total membership fee (including VAT): £144

Example 2

Nicki and Nat would like to rent a property costing £200 per week (£867 per month) with flatfair. The total membership price they need to pay will be £200 + VAT, split evenly between the two of them.

Nicki and Nat's joint membership fee (without VAT): £200
Nicki and Nat's total joint membership fee (including VAT): £240
Amount Nicki needs to pay: £120
